Message from the BHAAAS President
Dear friends and members of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences,
Welcome to the 14th Days of BHAAAS in Tuzla!
We have worked tirelessly for over 15 years to bring you again this impressive conference – the largest scientific event in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina – and the time has finally arrived. All the hard work is about to pay off as we finally have the privilege to host this extraordinary gathering of hundreds of world-class experts in Tuzla, one of the oldest Bosnian urban communities, as well as the city of Mesa, Ismet, and many others.
This conference is being prepared by the generosity and commitment of the Organizing Committee, the network of volunteers who donate their time and expertise to BHAAAS, and its Days. We are also getting amazing support and welcoming messages from the city of Tuzla, the University of Tuzla, and many of our member volunteers from Tuzla. Of course, none of this can be done without the financial support of our partner organizations and sponsors, and I want to use this opportunity to invite them to join us.
We hope that we will all enjoy these four days of Celebration of the arts and sciences in Tuzla. We also hope you will share your knowledge, learn something new, network, and make new friends. Together, we can send the message that a future based on knowledge and the exchange of ideas is the only, and best way for professionals to contribute to society and make a better life.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee and the Board of the Directors,
Amer Smajkic MD

History of BHAAAS and its Days in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS), founded in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2007, is a voluntary, non-profit, non-governmental, non-partisan, multi-ethnic, and multi-cultural organization whose purposes are educational, scientific, and charitable. Its members are gathered under the mission of advancement and development of arts and sciences among the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Diaspora in the United States and Canada. BHAAAS also aims to provide connections between Bosnian-Herzegovinian scientists, artists, and professionals in North America and build bridges of cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the spirit of intellectual diversity, free exchange of ideas, and the belief that knowledge is shareable wealth. Within this framework, BHAAAS has for over a decade organized a conference titled Days of BHAAAS, held in a different location in Bosnia and Herzegovina each year.
BHAAAS’ main goal is connecting experts and professionals of Bosnian-Herzegovinian Diaspora with their counterparts from Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries. BHAAAS has been dedicated to bringing top experts of Bosnian-Herzegovinian origin who work at prestigious institutions in the U.S., Canada, and elsewhere, and providing them with the opportunity to share their knowledge and expertise with colleagues and students in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Days of BHAAAS has over the years grown into one of the largest scientific conferences in the Balkans, with hundreds of participants attending lectures in dozens of parallel sessions. We hope to set a new record this year, both in the number of presenters and participants, and hope that you will be able to join us in either capacity.
