For fifteen years, the Days of BHAAAS have been a substantial, high-quality, and successful conference.
Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences was founded in Charlotte, North Carolina, on November 3, 2007.
As part of the lead-up to the 16th Days of the BHAAAS, a special Biology Student Conference will be held on June 11–12 at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University of Tuzla. This event aims to empower young biologists through presentations, workshops, and expert lectures, highlighting the value of interdisciplinary research and student engagement in science.
Bosnia and Herzegovina will soon establish its first specialized society dedicated to breast cancer—SIS Bosnia and Herzegovina, the national branch of the global organization Senological International Society (SIS)—marking a new chapter in oncology and women's healthcare in the country. SIS is a worldwide federation bringing together more than one hundred scientific and professional societies, associations, and groups from all five continents, with a core mission focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of breast diseases. This initiative is the result of the dedicated work of Dr. Lejla Hadžikadić Gušić, a prominent oncologic surgeon at the Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte, USA, and a member of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS).
As part of the 16th Annual Conference of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS), to be held in Sarajevo from June 19–22, 2025, a special spotlight will be on the panel “Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in Medicine: Innovation, Ethics, and Safety.”
We are pleased to invite high school mathematics teachers to take part in a unique workshop titled “Mathematics and Democracy”, which will be held on June 18, 2024, in Sarajevo, as part of the 16th BHAAAS Days.
A member of BHAAAS, Namik Hrle from Banja Luka, Vice President of Development in IBM's Software Department and Director of the Development Laboratory in Germany, holder of 77 patents, will be one of the speakers at the 4th Future Leaders Summit (FLS), which will take place on December 13 and 14 in Sarajevo.

Radiology diagnostics specialist, Dr. Zulejha Merhemić, a long-time member of BHAAAS, has been honored as a Fellow of the European Society of Neuroradiology. Dr. sc. Merhemić, the first person from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) to achieve this prestigious level of membership, has been actively contributing to the development and promotion of the medical field for over 20 years. In addition to her work in BiH, she has made a significant impact as a visiting professor at foreign universities, sharing her extensive knowledge and experience with students and colleagues.
