BHAAAS is a voluntary non-profit, non-governmental, non-partisan, multi-ethnic, and multi-cultural organization whose purposes are exclusively educational, scientific, and charitable, as defined under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences was founded in Charlotte, North Carolina, on November 3, 2007.

Knowledge Transfer from the Diaspora: Professor Ajla Akšamija at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Sarajevo

BHAAAS Days are a platform for networking, unforgettable encounters, and the exchange of ideas between local and international experts from various fields of science and art.

After 16 successful conferences, BHAAAS proudly continues building bridges between the homeland and the world.

Mahira Tanović, MD, FACS, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon with more than twenty years of professional experience in New York. She is a member and former President of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS) and has been appointed President of the National Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a professional organization operating at the national level.

Carolyn Dorfman Dance presents Prologue: A Dance of Hope - The Story of Max Heller, a powerful fusion of dance, music, and theater. Featuring electroacoustic compositions by Sarajevo-born composer Svjetlana Bukvich and Bosnian singer Davor Ebner, this project is a cultural bridge between BiH and its US diaspora. Premiering in January 2025, it honors Heller’s legacy as a Holocaust survivor, immigrant, and trailblazing mayor who fought segregation in Greenville, South Carolina.
