17th BHAAAS Annual Conference

Salt Lake City, October 6th – 8th, 2023

Overview and Dates:

  • Arrival: Friday October 6th in the afternoon
  • Session: Saturday October 7th all day
  • Departure: Sunday October 8th mid-day

Activities and locations:

Friday 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm: arrival dinner at the Akšamijas,

  • Location: Salt Lake City,
  • All BHAAAS members are welcome, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails/refreshments served.

Saturday: Main Meeting Sessions

  • Location: the Eccles Boardroom, Warnock Engineering Building
  • 72 Central Campus Dr, Salt Lake City, UT 84112

Tentative Schedule for Saturday:

– *9:00 – 11:00 am Session 1:

  • moderator greeting, meeting agenda, and Zoom logistic, Ms Lejla Tahirović
  • opening remarks by the USAID Economic Development Office Director, Mr Karl Wurster (via Zoom)
  • opening remarks by the Minister of Human Right and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sevlid Hurtić PhD
  • outgoing BHAAAS President’s address, Amer Smajkić MD
  • transfer of BHAAAS presidency
  • new BHAAAS President’s address, Eldina Vajzović Nizamić MD
  • presentation of new BHAAAS members, Ms Lejla Tahirović

– *11:00 – 11:30 am Break 1: coffee and snacks

– 11:30 am – 12:30 pm Session 2 (Division chair and program reports):

– beautiful fall foliage, easy cca 1 mile easy walk, flat terrain/boardwalk

Schedule for Sunday:

– 2nd excursion for Sunday (or could swap for Saturday early afternoon, before dinner):

  • visit to the Olympic Park, the Engen Ski Museum, and the Eccles Olympic Games 2002 museum, 3419 Olympic Pkwy, Park City, UT 84098,

    Admission is FREE, hours are 10 am – 5 pm. Possible addon activities: Guided Tours $20 pp, Ziplines, Bobsled experience: $100 per person (might be closed after Labor Day)
