Job description role: Project Manager
Location: Sarajevo
Classification: Full-time position for six months
Language Requirements: Excellent command of written and spoken English and B/H/S
Reports to: BHAAAS Board of Directors / President of the Board

Duration of contract: The position is offered for a trial period of six months with a possibility of extension.
Who we are: Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS) gathers and connects Bosnian-Herzegovinian scientists, artists, and professionals in North America and builds bridges of cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina in the spirit of intellectual diversity, free exchange of ideas, and the belief that knowledge is shareable wealth.

 

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Assuming responsibility and ownership of the overall management for the portfolio of projects, including planning, organizing, and implementing projects’ activities.
  • Managing existing projects, securing new ones and pushing them forward.
  • Becoming the backbone of the BHAAAS relationships and collaborations among its own members and with other institutions.
  • Managing complex projects start-to-finish, from initial creative development through production, post-production, and launch.
  • Developing and managing project timelines and ensuring timely approvals and feedback from external partners.
  • Proactively managing projects and BHAAAS members, giving constructive direction to those working with you.
  • Making confident project decisions and spotting and exploiting opportunities for growth.
  • Facilitating the flow of information between external partners (institutions, government and non-government agencies) and the rest of BHAAAS’ team and membership.
  • Intensive communication and coordination with BHAAAS members.
  • Developing strong working relationships with partners, beneficiaries, other donor organizations, as well as other relevant stakeholders to ensure projects are well-targeted and achieving the desired results. 
  • Establishing successful coordination and prompt and efficient communication with third parties outside the organization, including donors’ representatives as well as with other project, finance, and administrative staff within the organization. 
  • In cooperation with PR agency, coordinating PR activities, serving as the point of contact for projects and represent projects at various events when necessary. 
  • Promoting projects’ activities and the organization at large among stakeholders (members, partners, public and private sector) through various channels and media outlets. 
  • In cooperation with Accounting agency coordinating administration and financial activities. 
  • Collaborating with the Board of Directors to make sure each project is tailored to the brand.
  • Thinking big, taking risks and pushing the boundaries because you understand that this will lead to great work.

 

Experience & Capabilities

  • The right individual will have 3+ years of experience managing projects / programs across a variety of situations.
  • Innate organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent writing skills with a strong understanding of tone, and the ability to adapt communications across detailed partner emails, thoughtful meeting notes, and clear updates.
  • Ability to bring clarity to the complex, connecting the dots, and organizing information in a clear, concise way.
  • Expertise in creative development and production.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and proactively solve issues, keeping up the momentum of the work and positive team dynamics.
  • Ability to balance the big picture with day-to-day project delivery detail, connecting partner needs and internal resources.
  • Ability to present work and facilitate discussions in meetings.
  • A passion to uphold the quality of our work at all phases of a project.
