AlmaNova recognized for their innovative recordings in worldwide music awards ceremony.
September 8, 2009 (Pasadena): The Pasadena-based, award-winning flute and guitar duo, AlmaNova (flutist, Jessica Pierce and guitarist, Almer Imamovic) were recently recognized at the 2009 Just Plain Folks Awards Show in Nashville, TN on August 24, 2009. Just Plain Folks is a community of over 51,500 Songwriters, Recording Artists and Music Industry Professionals — and host to the world's largest independent music awards – with their mission to recognize “the other 98% of independent musicians”.
AlmaNova won in both categories in which they were nominated:
AlmaNova "Debut" -Best Instrumental Album 2009
Almer Imamovic "Sarajevo Nights" -Best Instrumental Song 2009
Although classically trained musicians, both having graduate degrees from USC, the album Debut explores the rich diverse folk music of the Balkans, particularly Almer’s native Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sarajevo Nights is an original composition by Mr. Imamovic that seeks to capture the energy and hopefulness of post-war Sarajevo.
